James Allen began his career in arboriculture in 1966. Since that time, he has worked in all facets of the tree care industry. James received his education in arboriculture through nearly 40 years of experience, attending countless seminars and professional academies. Most notably, he is a graduate of the Consulting Arborist Academy and the Tree Biology Academy hosted Dr. Alex Shigo.

In addition to his education, James is a Registered Consulting Arborist with the American Society of Consulting Arborists, a Board Certified Master Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture and a Certified Urban Forester. He has also had the privilege of designing and teaching the arboriculture class at Cabrillo College.

Through experience and education, he has gained valuable knowledge of tree species and characteristics. The need for a firm with intimate knowledge of tree behavior with an emphasis on preservation resulted in the creation of James P. Allen and Associates: Consulting Arborists.

Our mission statement: Tree care procedures should be performed only after an objective analysis of tree condition has been determined and prescriptive treatments designed.
